MMRF 5K-Run

Hello to all, I hope this post finds you well. The 5K race for Myeloma was a success and our team closed out our donations this week. Thank you to all our friends and followers, we were able to exceed our goal of raising $1,000 for Multiple Myeloma research; the final contribution number was $1,120! Thank you to everyone who contributed. The MMRF is a great organization and a strong advocate and supporter for Multiple Myeloma research. Since our 5K Race on September 15th, they have announced a new drug approved for Multiple Myeloma patients. The research for this new drug was driven by the continued support from MMRF.

As for me, I’m still recovering from Radical prostatectomy surgery. I’m feeling better every week; the incontinence is a tough recovery not to mention impotency.  We are working on our new home in Vermont, no shortage of projects in a 200-year-old house! Keeps us busy and keeps my mind of recovery.

Tomorrow I’m starting a part time job as a cook in the kitchen of a country breakfast restaurant. The place is called Sugar & Spice and is located in a 3-story sugar shack, every spring they brew up maple sugar & syrup up through the center of the restaurant; it’s one of the oldest surviving Sugar shacks in New England.

That’s all for now, we are wishing a “HAPPY THANKSGIVING” to everyone and your families.

Getting Close to Race Day!

Hello to everyone… Thank you for all your generous donations to the MMRF, we are getting closer and closer to our target of $1,000 every day, as of this morning we have hit the $615 mark. The 5K race day is also getting closer, just 3 more days till Saturday the 15th. Quinby and I are training (See picture) Theresa and Quinby will be my on site support team!
Murphy’s going to sit out the race at home, enjoying the peace and quiet I’m sure!

My day for surgery is getting closer as well. I’m going in on Thursday the 20th; I’ll be in the hospital for a couple of days. It will be nice to have this behind me and have a few months break from going in and out of hospitals. Theresa and I are looking forward to some quiet time in Vermont.

That’s all for now……

Good Morning Boston!

Hello, I hope everyone had a great summer! It went by so fast it's hard to believe we are entering Fall!

I made a decision on my Prostate Cancer, after examining all of my options, Radiation just wasn't an option for me. I'll be having a Radical Prostatectomy on September 20th at my second home, The Brigham Woman's Hospital.

In the mean time, I'm going to Run/Walk in a 5K road race in Boston on Saturday 9/20 to support the (MMRF)The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. The MMRF has raised more than $17 million to support there important research for multiple myeloma cures and early detection. Since this disease is currently not curable, it's a cancer I'll have to live with for the rest of my life. I'm just not going to give up, I'm going to fight this disease as long as I live.

If you would like to help me reach my fund raising goal of $1,000 then you can visit my race web site at:

Hello to everyone

Welcome back to our house

Hello To all, it’s been quite a while since I posted an update so here it is; this week, I celebrated my 1-year anniversary of my stem cell transplant. My Myeloma Cancer is officially in remission and I’m feeling great.

Unfortunately just when Theresa and I were ready to sit back and enjoy some quality non-hospital time together, I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.

I visited with my new physician today; we reviewed my prostate MRI results, which indicated stage-4 prostate cancer. He then discussed my treatment options in detail after explaining where the cancer was specifically found in my testing.
The next step is to meet with a Radiologist to discuss the difference between Radiation therapies vs. surgical procedures.

On a happier note, Theresa and I are buying a 200-yr old farmhouse in Vermont near Killington. We will now have 4 bedrooms, plenty of room for guests!

I will once again resume regular postings as my long journey fighting Cancer continues.
